State-of-the-art pressure sensors reveal foot misalignments

When walking, muscles, ligaments, joints, and nerve pathways work together precisely. Changes in gait pattern can therefore indicate functional limitations or diseases.
Gait analysis allows for the targeted identification of structural and functional deviations in the musculoskeletal system. Although everyone has an individual gait, the movement pattern should generally be fluid and dynamic.
Certain conditions and illnesses can significantly alter the gait pattern.
A leg length discrepancy is often compensated for by a tilt of the pelvis. It can also manifest itself in the knee on the longer side not being fully extended when walking.
In cases of acute injury or pain, the body often automatically adopts a protective posture. Hip pain, for example, frequently manifests as a shortened ground contact time: the affected leg is relieved more quickly in order to put as little strain as possible on the painful joint.
Gait analysis can also help determine whether individually tailored orthotic insoles are advisable. These can be prescribed specifically to compensate for improper weight distribution, positively influence gait patterns, and potentially alleviate existing discomfort.
